Behind the Performance Series with Doug Varone and Dancers, June 6–21, Purchase College, SUNY

This summer Doug Varone and Dancers offers a series of free informal performances at Purchase College. 

Wednesday, June 6; Monday, June 11; and Monday, June 18 Exploring Repertory I, II, III

This intimate and intriguing series provides an in-depth view at works from the Company’s extensive repertory each evening, without lights or costumes. Each night, delve into these works with Varone, his dancers, and his collaborators, while they take you on a journey to discover the inner workings of a single piece of the company’s diverse repertory.  

Friday, June 15: An Evening of Works by Netta Yerushalmy and Alex Springer & Xan Burley

Don’t miss this chance to view a sampling of some Company members’ various creative undertakings outside of Doug Varone and Dancers. Original works will be shown by Varone Company dancers, Alex Springer & Xan Burley, co-directors of alex|xan: The Median Movement (, and by Netta Yerushalmy (, who has just been awarded the Guggenheim Foundation’s 2012 Fellowship in Choreography.

Thursday, June 21: Work in Progress Showing

Join Doug Varone and Dancers as they offer a first-time view of Varone’s current work-in-progress, and see the Company in action as he continues to create on-the-spot, at Purchase College.

All showings are free and open to the public; no reservations necessary. All performances are at 7:30 pm in the Purchase College Dance Theater Lab.
